Owen Pierce will be offering a welding and woodworking class during camp meeting this year.
Owen is a skilled woodworker and welder. Many of his skills are self taught. His welding training was obtained while he was employed with Bath Iron Works which the US military contracts with to build naval Ships.
Some of Owen's notable woodworking projects include building most of his home furniture including kitchen cabinets, dining table and chairs, beds, dressers, side tables and the list goes on.
He also built a wooden canoe made from cedar, 13 pair of snow shoes that were shared with friends and family and several hammered and mountain dulcimers.
Owen spent 30 years employed by the NNE Conference at the Brunswick Retirement Village, a housing complex for seniors in Brunswick, Maine. While there he built a 10 car garage as well as a two story, two bay garage.
Owen's current work for private customers focuses on home remodeling and repair. He is also a licensed, Maine Realtor.
Owen is currently teaching welding and woodshop at Pine Tree Academy for grades 9-12.
Owen lives in Lisbon with his wife of 35 years, Rebekah. They have two grown sons who both graduated from Pine Tree Academy and three grandsons who they adore and enjoy spending time with. Their 5 year old grandson, Archie is a student at PTA in Kindergarten.
In his free time, Owen enjoys fishing, wood working and visiting warm, tropical locations with his wife.
